Privacy Policy

PolitIQ Technologies Pvt. Ltd. ("PolitIQ", "we", "us") operates the PolitIQ platform — a public leaderboard of political influence scores and a self-service portal for politicians and their teams (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

This policy covers two categories of people: visitors to our public leaderboard (unauthenticated, e.g. journalists and researchers) and politicians who register for the self-service portal. It does not apply to private citizens — we do not track or profile individuals who are not elected officials or candidates for office.

From public leaderboard visitors:

• Standard web analytics (pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser type)
• No account or personal identifiers are required to browse the leaderboard

From politicians using the self-service portal:

• Mobile number, used to send a one-time password (OTP) and as your account identifier
• Name, party affiliation, state, constituency, and public social media handles
• Profile edits and content you create (content plans, AI chat messages, uploaded documents)
• Payment records (amount, product, status) for the ₹999 details unlock and ₹9,999/month AI subscription — card and UPI details are handled entirely by our payment processor, Razorpay, and never touch our servers
• OAuth tokens if you connect Google Calendar, encrypted at rest before storage

Publicly available political data:

We collect publicly posted content and engagement metrics from politicians' public social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube) via the MLA Portal API and our data partner Apify. This data is about public officials in their public capacity, not private individuals, and is used to compute the Influence Score shown on our leaderboards.

• To authenticate you and operate your portal account
• To compute and display Influence Scores and leaderboard rankings
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To generate AI-assisted content suggestions and strategy reports you request
• To send transactional messages — OTPs, payment confirmations, rank-change alerts
• To maintain platform security and prevent abuse
• To improve the accuracy of our Influence Score methodology

We share data with the following categories of service providers, only as needed to operate the Service:

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it with any political party or campaign outside of your own account.

The portal stores a single authentication cookie, politiq_token, containing your signed JWT session. It is set to expire after 30 days, uses the SameSite=Strict attribute, and is used solely to keep you signed in — it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

• Account and profile data is retained for as long as your politician account is active
• Payment records are retained as required for accounting and tax compliance
• OTP codes expire automatically within minutes and are not retained
• Social media snapshots and score history are retained to power historical trend charts
• You may request deletion of your portal account at any time (see Section 8)

• All traffic to the Service is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Passwords are never stored — authentication uses mobile OTP and signed JWTs
• OAuth tokens (e.g. Google Calendar) are encrypted at rest using Fernet symmetric encryption
• Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel only

Subject to applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may request to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate profile or social handle information
• Delete your portal account and associated personal data
• Withdraw consent for optional features, such as Google Calendar sync

The Service is intended for elected officials, candidates, and adult professional researchers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
